This is the first "big" kite we bought since we caught the bug. Not wanting to be too adventurous, we opted for this smaller version. It turned out to one of our best kites.

The assembly was simple, with only 1 rod to fix. Thank goodness, for a beginner in a crowded big field. Not knowing any better, I flew it like a small diamond and it works (thus, I'm sticking to this launch method).

Like the diamond, very little pull is felt from this kite. But unlike the diamond, it is very stable at launch. Despite the long tail, this kite will actually floats in the air quite easily, even on low wind days.At launch, make sure to maintain tension on the lines throughout. Hand launch is strongly recommended, especially in low winds, as its little pull makes it sensitive to external influences.

It will remain in the free float state until it found its angle of attack.  I'm constantly surprise how well it hangs. If you're using the reel to launch, pull it down once the kite moves towards you when you reel back, or, when the head bobs up and down. Try again. We've flown this in lighter winds and it constantly outperform kites like delta at launch.

Once the angle is found, it'll simply takes off; like a shy lady at first. So, be sure to keep the line tension. Don't expect it to dash up like deltas but it will get there. Because of its "floating" ability, it will stay in the air a little longer.

Don't use this kite to lift anything. It can't even lift a battery pack for night lights, but you can hook some on its frame. Any light hanging on its line will also have an impact.

No tails tried (obvious).

I've not flown the bigger version but I think the experience should be similar. (How about lift?)

This is now my 8 year old's favorite kite.  She can do the assembly and flying all on her own. Thus, strongly recommended for kids and beginners. (Hey, you can buy them from 7-11, and comes in a few colors.) We're still flying this despite losing the spar caps for a while now.

What a good start.
